What Is Picklesburgh?

Picklesburgh is an annual festival held in Downtown Pittsburgh and has become one of the city's signature summer events. The festival typically attracts about 200,000 visitors each year. What began as a celebration of pickled foods has grown into an event featuring dozens of food vendors, local artists, live music, interactive attractions, and, of course, plenty of pickles.

Typically held each July, Picklesburgh takes over several areas of Downtown Pittsburgh, including the Roberto Clemente Bridge, Andy Warhol Bridge, PPG Plaza, Market Square, and Arts Landing. Throughout the weekend, visitors can sample unique pickle-inspired foods, including favorites like pickle pierogies, pickle pizza, pickle-flavored beer, and many other creative treats. Festivalgoers can also enjoy one-of-a-kind attractions like the Pickle Juice Drinking Contest, where contestants race to drink 32 ounces of pickle juice for the chance to be crowned the "Mayor of Picklesburgh." Another crowd favorite is the giant mechanical pickle, where riders test their balance to see how long they can stay on. Each year, Picklesburgh continues to introduce new food, entertainment, and activities for visitors of all ages.
