What Is Dupixent and Why Are Lawsuits Being Filed
Dupixent, or dupilumab, is a prescription injection used to treat several long-term inflammatory conditions. Doctors often prescribe it for moderate to severe eczema, asthma, chronic sinus problems with nasal polyps, eosinophilic esophagitis, prurigo nodularis, and some cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Dupixent for certain allergic and inflammatory conditions. It works by affecting parts of the immune system involved in inflammation. You can read the FDA’s official prescribing information for Dupixent here: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2017/761055lbl.pdf
For a simple overview of dupilumab, including how it is used and monitored, you can also check information from MedlinePlus, a service of the National Library of Medicine:
https://medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a617040.html
For many people, Dupixent helps control symptoms when other treatments do not work. However, some developed cutaneous T-cell lymphoma after starting Dupixent. Others had worse skin symptoms that were later found to be CTCL.
Lawsuits have been filed alleging insufficient warnings to patients and doctors about the potential connection between Dupixent and CTCL. In some cases, early cancer symptoms may have been mistaken for eczema or side effects, delaying diagnosis and treatment.
Research is still ongoing. Some studies have raised concerns about higher rates of CTCL in some people taking dupilumab. Because of these concerns, some patients and families are seeking compensation through Dupixent cancer lawsuits.

Understanding CTCL (Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma)
Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma is a rare kind of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that mainly affects the skin. It starts in white blood cells called T-cells and can progress at different speeds depending on the type and stage. CTCL is often called a type of skin lymphoma.
The National Cancer Institute provides a detailed overview of CTCL, including how it develops and why diagnosis can be challenging:
https://www.cancer.gov/types/lymphoma/patient/mycosis-fungoides-treatment-pdq
Symptoms of CTCL may include:
- Red, scaly, or patchy skin
- Thickened or hardened plaques
- Intense or persistent itching
- Skin tumors or nodules
- Changes in skin color or texture
- Swollen lymph nodes
As CTCL progresses, patients may also have fatigue, fever, chills, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, or hair loss. In advanced cases, CTCL can spread from the skin to lymph nodes or internal organs.
CTCL is hard to diagnose early because its symptoms often look like eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis. Some people using Dupixent may think these symptoms are just side effects or normal flare-ups. Sometimes, these turn out to be CTCL, which can delay diagnosis and treatment.
There are several types of CTCL and related lymphomas that may be part of Dupixent lawsuits. These include mycosis fungoides, Sézary syndrome, and other rare skin or T-cell lymphomas. The main question is whether using Dupixent may have played a role in the disease’s development or progression.
