Metalux High Bay LED Lights Recalled After Reports of Fires: What You Need to Know

Cooper Lighting has issued a recall^[1] for its Metalux Optimized High Bay (OHB) LED light fixtures, often found in warehouses and other commercial spaces with high ceilings. If your business installed these fixtures anytime between 2020 and 2025, it's worth checking whether your lights are included in this recall.

Why Cooper Lighting Recalled the Metalux OHB Fixtures

This recall affects about 42,000 units and was announced on July 2, 2026. Cooper Lighting has received nine reports^[1] of these fixtures catching fire. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Affected Metalux OHB Model Numbers and Date Codes

• OHB-60SE: April 2020 through December 2022
• OHBL-60SE: October 2022 through May 15, 2025
• OHBL-100SE: October 2022 through May 15, 2025

The recalled fixtures are painted white metal, measure about 2 to 4 feet long, and have a plastic diffuser lens cover. You can find the model number and date code on a label inside the fixture. Checking it requires removing two screws from the fixture cover.

These fixtures were sold through Cooper Lighting authorized distributors^[1] nationwide from April 2020 through May 2025, priced between $425 and $950 each.

Why the Metalux LED Fixtures Are a Fire Hazard

The LED board inside the fixture can overheat and come into contact with the lens or nearby materials that can catch fire. In warehouses and similar settings, that creates a real fire risk^[1] directly above the people working nearby.

What to Do If You Have a Recalled Metalux Light Fixture

If you have one of these recalled fixtures, stop using it right away and contact Cooper Lighting to arrange a free repair or replacement. Turn off power to the fixture at the breaker, not just the switch. If you notice smoke, scorch marks, a loose LED board, or discoloration on the lens, don't try to inspect or fix it yourself.
