Christmas with a Lawyer
Not sure what to get your loved ones for Christmas? Edgar Snyder & Associates has got you covered!
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by trying to buy the perfect gift for your loved ones during the holidays. On this month’s Pittsburgh Today Live’s (PTL) law segment “Straight to the Point,” Armand Leonelli, Edgar Snyder & Associates Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Owner, dives into some unique Christmas gifts that you can surprise your friends or family with during the season of giving.
PTL hosts, David Highfield and Heather Abraham, open the segment by introducing a simple, yet practical gift that will definitely be needed this winter – a snow shovel. However, Armand looks at this through a different lens.
“I thought if you give someone a shovel, they actually have to work,” he said. “I actually thought a better gift would be if you paid for snow and ice removal for someone for like three months...I didn't want to give my parents a shovel and tell them to get to work.”
Heather adds, “we know if people fall on our property, it can become a liability for us.” Armand agrees but sees it more as a safety concern.
“This time of year, a lot of different people are coming in and out of your house and God forbid someone or one of your family members get hurt. That’s even worse than the legal side.”
The PTL hosts fire off more gift ideas related to vehicles – a tire inflator, emergency kit, heated ice scraper, and even a dashcam.
“I think a dashcam is a great gift idea. You hate to think something bad would happen, but it just preserves evidence. If there’s an accident, you likely caught it,” Armand said.
Although, through a lawyer’s perspective, the CEO/Owner plays upon the idea of paying for car services. “I thought all of those things (vehicle gifts) are practical, but what I think is an even better option is getting a roadside service like OnStar or AAA. That way if you’re stranded, you don't have to figure out how to jack up a car or do anything like that.”
David adds to that thought, saying, “it’s peace of mind, too, that you know you’ve taken care of your loved one.”
One final gift topic emerges about reflective gear to protect those who are often on the road. Some practical gifts might include a vest or a cool helmet.
Thinking like a lawyer, Armand continues suggesting presents for loved ones by mentioning the unique gift idea of additional insurance. “I would buy them underinsured motorist coverage or say ‘hey, I paid for your auto insurance for the next six months.’”
David jokingly says, “I wouldn’t mind being on Armand’s gift list.”
Did Armand’s gift list inspire you? While you’re finishing Christmas shopping for those you love, be sure to keep these practical ideas in mind. You never know who it might be the perfect gift for.
