Bee Pollen Products Hide Banned Substances

Undeclared Ingredients Could Hurt Consumers

Dangerous Unlisted Ingredients Risk Consumers' Health

An investigation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has made startling discoveries about certain weight loss supplements containing bee pollen as an active ingredient. Cancer and stroke-causing chemicals are popping up in bee pollen products.

Sibutramine and phenolphthalein may not have the clearest pronunciations, but the FDA warns that their harmful effects on consumers are obvious. Sibutramine was disallowed in U.S. products after research proved it to increase the risk for stroke and heart attack. Phenolphthalein is a suspected cancer agent. Side effects from the 50 complaints issued about these products include chest pain, seizures, suicidal thoughts, and digestive issues. At least one death is confirmed as a result of these chemicals.

FDA officials are worried that this latest "miracle weight loss" supplement craze could endanger more people than it helps. What's worse is that these substances are not listed on these products' labels, meaning that even wary consumers may be fooled into thinking they are making healthy choices. Products tainted with the dangerous substances include Zi Xiu Tang, Bella Vi Amp'd Up, Perfect Body Solution, and Asset Bee Pollen.
