300,000 Chevy Cruzes Recalled

Cruze brake assist problem

General Motors has announced a recall of close to 300,000 Chevrolet Cruze sedans due to a brake assist system problem. Drivers have experienced loss of brake assist, forcing them to apply extra pressure to stop the cars. While no injuries have been reported, there have been 27 low-speed crashes caused by the brake assist system failure.

The affected Cruzes are model years 2011-2012 with six-speed automatic transmissions and 1.4 liter turbo engines. Drivers affected by the recall are instructed to take the cars to their dealerships, and the microswitch which is causing the problem will be replaced.
