Graco Recalls Classic Wood Highchair That Poses Fall Hazard to Children

graco recall

Graco is recalling about 86,000 Classic Wood Highchairs in the United States and 3,400 in Canada due to a fall risk. The defective highchairs were sold nationwide at Babies R US, Burlington Coat Factory, and online at target.com and walmart.com between September 2007 and December 2010.

There have been 58 reports of highchair seats loosening or detaching from the base, subsequently causing children to fall. In nine of the reported cases, children have been injured after the highchair seat separated from the base of the chair. The injuries caused by this defective highchair so far include bumps, bruises, scratches, and a concussion suffered by one child in Canada.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advises consumers to stop using Classic Wood Highchairs immediately. They also advise that consumers contact Graco for a free repair kit.
