I can't say it enough – I'm so honored to work with such an amazing staff at our law firm. Aside from the compassion they feel for our clients, they go above and beyond in giving back to the local and global communities in so many ways. Let me tell you about one of them.
One of our employees, Joanie McCleary, recently traveled to Kenya. After 14 hours in the air, Joanie and her group spent 11 days in the village of Thika. In addition to providing some of the residents with food and basic supplies, they helped repair buildings in need of everything from windows to doors to roofs. They even taught in some of the schools and provided tuition and supplies to the young children.
This was actually Joanie's third time in Africa. Given the opportunity, she says she "would go again in a heartbeat" and wishes she could go every year. Joanie really showed her dedication near the end of the trip when she fell and fractured her arm but continued on. She calls the trip inspiring and says, "Whatever we do by going, we get back tenfold."
It's an incredible honor to work with someone like Joanie, who's ready and willing to devote time and energy (and risk her own safety) to better the lives of others. I hope that her experience helped the Thika community for years to come, and I know that the people she met there have changed her life forever.
