Deciding which booster seat to buy for your child can be difficult – there are a ton of options and a lot of safety concerns to consider. Luckily, the Institute for Highway Safety has made the decision a bit easier.
The organization recently reviewed the seat belt fit of 72 booster seat models and assigned "Best Bet" ratings to the 21 boosters that provided a correct fit in all vehicle types. Seven models got a "Good Bet" rating for proper fit in the majority of vehicles, and eight made the "Not Recommended" list. Those that didn't make the grade were: Eddie Bauer Deluxe, Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1, Evenflo Express, Evenflo Generations 65, Evenflo Sightseer, Harmony Baby Armor, Safety 1st All-in-One, Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite.
This is a vast improvement over last year, when only nine out of 60 boosters received a "Best Bet" rating. Properly secured booster seats are imperative in protecting children during a car accident, so it's good to see that the number of safe options is increasing. I encourage you to check out the institute's complete rankings to make sure you have the best booster seat for your child.
