Chemicals found in cosmetics

A small study conducted by the Environmental Working Group has found that teenagers may be contaminated with potentially dangerous chemicals from cosmetics. Researchers found ingredients linked to health problems in animals in the blood and urine of all of the teens who were tested.

Almost half of young drivers text while they drive.

As more people substitute phone calls with text messaging, safety concerns are on the rise. A survey has found that nearly half of all drivers aged 18-24 send text messages while they drive, an activity that states are banning due to its dangers.

Recall announced for 600,000 Simplicity cribs

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the third major recall of Simplicity brand children's sleeping equipment this year, this one involving 600,000 defective cribs. The cribs, which were sold at major retailers nationwide, pose an entrapment and suffocation hazard to children.

Indian drugs blocked

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an "important alert" to stop about 30 generic drugs manufactured in India from being imported into the United States. The FDA says that the drugs, which include the generic versions of the antibiotic Cipro and the cholesterol medication Zocor, were made in subpar manufacturing conditions.

Arthritis drugs

Four popular arthritis drugs, Enbrel, Remicade, Humira, and Cizmia, have received stronger warnings from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The medications, used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other serious conditions, have been linked to possibly fatal fungal infections in patients.

Almost 900,000 dangerous Simplicity-brand bassinets remain on the market or in consumers' homes in the midst of an ongoing liability dispute. SFCA Inc., the company that acquired the Simplicity brand in April, claims that it is not liable for recalling the bassinets, which have been implicated in the strangulation deaths of two infants.
