Medtronic Paradigm Quick-Set Infusion Sets

What are Medtronic Paradigm Quick-Set Infusion Sets?
Infusion sets consist of a thin plastic tube used to deliver insulin from an insulin pump to a diabetes patient. They are typically replaced by the patient every three days.
Medtronic announced in July 2009 that it was recalling its "Lot 8" Quick-set infusion sets, because they have the potential to malfunction. The affected infusion sets may prevent the insulin pump from properly venting air pressure, resulting in the device delivering too much or too little insulin. This can lead to serious injury or death.
The affected sets are reference numbers MMT-396, MMT-397, MMT-398, and MMT-399 and have a lot number beginning with "8." The lot number is clearly marked on both the product box label as well as on each individual infusion set package.
