Restaurant Food Safety Violation in Erie
China King restaurant in Erie County has been shut down due to food
safety violations after a public health sanitation official found
workers allegedly butchering a deer in the restaurant's kitchen. The
inspector also found a refrigerator that was too warm and chicken, eggs,
and ribs that had to be thrown out.
The inspector reported that the road kill deer had been partially butchered on the floor of the kitchen with its legs placed in the sink. Officials do not believe that any of the meat was served to customers.
The Chinese restaurant, located in Hamburg, New York, has been cited for dozens of health violations since 2003. The current owner has operated the restaurant for the past year. The Erie County Health Commissioner will render a decision as to whether or not the restaurant will reopen.
