Lean Pockets Recalled, May Contain Plastic
July 2008
Nestle Prepared Foods Company has announced a nationwide
recall of 9-ounce boxes of Lean Pockets Spinach Artichoke Chicken.
The ready-to-eat frozen food may contain bits of plastic that pose a
safety risk to consumers.
Approximately 350,000 packages of Lean Pockets are being recalled because Nestle received three consumer complaints and two injury reports. One person chipped a tooth on a piece of plastic and another almost swallowed plastic while eating the stuffed chicken pockets.
This Class 1 recall, the most serious government food recall, applies to boxes with a "Best Before" date of Nov. 2009 and a package code beginning with "8144544616." The establishment number "P7721A" is printed on the side of the package. The products were all produced on May 23 at a Kentucky plant and delivered to stores across the country.
