Another Food Distributor Recalls Spinach Products

September 2006

An east coast distributor, RLB Food, voluntarily recalled certain products containing spinach. The spinach used in these products may have been supplied by Natural Selection Foods who previously recalled their products because they may have been tainted with E. coli.

Recalled RLB products with a “Enjoy Thru” date of 9/20 include:

  • Balducci’s Mesclun Mix 5 oz.
  • Balducci’s Organic Baby Spinach 5 oz.
  • Balducci’s Mixed Greens 5 oz.
  • FreshPro Mesclun Mix 5 oz.
  • FreshPro Baby Spinach 5 oz.
  • FreshPro Mixed Greens 5 oz.
  • FreshPro Salad Mix with Italian Dressing 4.75 oz.
  • FreshPro Salad Mix with Ranch Dressing 5.25 oz.

These products were distributed to Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Washington D.C. Consumers who purchased these products should return them to place of purchase for a full refund. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not cleared raw spinach for consumption.
