Beware of Canadian Prescription Drug Websites

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is urging consumers not to purchase prescription drugs from Canadian websites that have orders filled by Mediplan Prescription Plus Pharmacy or Mediplan Global Health. The FDA has received reports of counterfeit drugs being sold to U.S. consumers by these two companies.

Laboratory results have found counterfeits of the following drugs:

• Lipitor
• Diovan
• Actonel
• Nexium
• Hyzaar
• Ezetrol
• Zetia (US name)/ Ezetrol (Canadian name)
• Crestor
• Celebrex
• Arimidex
• Propecia

Some websites operated by Mediplan or who are fulfilled by Mediplan include:

• RxNorth.com
• Canadiandrugstore.com
• Rxbyfax.com
• Northcountryrx.com
• Canada-pharmacy.com
• My-canada-pharmacy.com
• NLRX.com
• Canampharmacy.com
• Canada-Meds-For-Less.net
• Canadian-safe.com

The FDA recommends consumers who purchased drugs from these websites to stop taking them. They also advise consumers to use caution when ordering medical products online. Counterfeit drugs can contain harmful, ineffective, and unknown ingredients.
