Pit Bulls Attack Six
November 2005
A pit bull attack in Illinois is just another brutal reminder of the potential dangers of pit bulls. Two children were hospitalized and four adults injured after the gruesome pit bull attack in Cary, IL. Three pit bulls began an attack on two children as they were going door-to-door delivering fundraiser candy.
Authorities are unsure what prompted the attack, but it appeared that the front door was left open. The three pit bulls attacked the children, and as neighbors came to help, they were also attacked. The dogs then turned on their owner, biting his thumb off. The dogs were finally brought down by police officers who shot them.
The owner has not been charged yet, however, the two children are still hospitalized, one in critical condition. The pit bulls were kept as pets and there was no sign that the dogs were abused, neglected, or trained to be aggressive.
