Christmas Lights Recalled Due to Fire Hazard
December 2006
Be warned—your Christmas lights may light up more than just your Christmas tree. Hobby Lobby recalled about 2.3 million sets of Christmas light sets due to shock and fire hazards. The lights have undersized wires which can separate form the plugs or the light sockets, posing an electric shock and fire hazard to consumers.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received a report of a minor shock when a consumer touched the light string. Hobby Lobby received one report of melting wires.
The recalled Christmas light sets were sold at Hobby Lobby stores nationwide from June 2006 until early December 2006. Consumers should stop using the lights immediately and return them to the nearest Hobby Lobby store for an exchange card. Concerned consumers should contact Hobby Lobby at 1-800-326-7931 for more information.
