Over 800,000 Circular Saws Recalled

Circular saws could turn on and cause cuts An important alert for the household handyman – over 800,000 Skil Circular Saws have been recalled for a risk of serious injury. The Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Robert Bosch Tool Corp. have announced a major alert regarding Skil Circular Saws that may not properly turn off, leading to potential cuts and wounds for saw operators.

The trigger switch of the Skil saws may be locked on or turned on without the use of the safety mechanism. In the event of this malfunction, the circular saws may operate unexpectedly. This may lead to deep, jagged wounds of the skin and tissue if the user comes in contact with the blade.

The Skil Circular Saws in question were sold from 2002 through 2006, retailing around $75. The following model numbers have been recalled:

  • 5650
  • 5700
  • 5750
  • 5755

If a saw has been recalled, it will match the above model number along with one of the following date codes:
