Toy Puzzles Recalled Due to Lead Paint Hazard

March 2008

Puzzle toys pose safety hazard Another extensive toy recall has been prompted by the presence of unsafe levels of lead paint. Almost 200,000 toy puzzle vehicle sets sold through Pennsylvania-based QVC have been recalled because they violate the federal lead paint standard.

The recall includes 16-piece Puzzle Track Play sets, also known as Battery Operated Puzzle Vehicle sets. QVC item number T16876 is printed on the brown box packaging of the toys. Surface paints on the puzzle pieces and components contain excessive levels of lead, posing a health safety risk to children.

The sets were sold on QVC televised shopping programs, on the QVC web page, by toll-free number, and in the Studio store from September 2002 through December 2007. The toys were imported from China by Merchant Media Corporation of Framingham, Massachusetts.
