Play Yards Recalled After Infant Death
Parents, your infant’s play yard may not be safest place for them to
play – it may actually be the most dangerous. Kolcraft has announced a
recall of about 425,000 play yards after a 10-month-old child was
strangled to death by a hanging changing table strap.
Play yards included in the recall are Carter’s Lennon Travelin’ Tot, Contours 3-in-1, the Jeep Sahara series, Kolcraft’s Travelin’ Tot series, and Sesame Beginnings by Kolcraft. The play yards were sold from January 2001 to September 2007.
The recall applies to all models featuring a looped changing table strap that hangs down into the play yard area and poses a strangulation hazard. The recall also includes Contours 3-in-1 due to their hanging rocking cradle design that poses a suffocation hazard. Kolcraft has received 45 reports of children becoming trapped when rolling to the side of the Contours 3-in-1 cradle.
