Nerf Guns Recalled Due to Injury Risk
October 2008
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall
of 330,000 toy guns manufactured by Hasbro. The toys, Nerf N-Strike
Recon CS-6 Blaster, have been linked to 46 injuries in children ages
four to 12.
It has been found that the Nerf N-Strike Recon Blasters have a plunger in the back that can grab a child's skin when fired, resulting in injuries to the face, neck or chest. The injuries reported to the CPSC included bruising, abrasions, pinching/pinch marks, blood blisters and welts.
The defective toy blasters affected by the recall are yellow with a black handle and orange plunger, trigger, and reload clip. Model number 63552 and UPC codes 653569272021 and 653569311218 are printed on the product packaging. Only toy guns with an exposed orange plunger are included in the recall.
