Worldwide Recall of Monitors/Defibrillators
July 2006
MRL, Inc. has voluntarily recalled 1,184 PIC50 External Monitor/Defibrillators manufactured between February 2002 and October 2004. The recall was initiated by an error message “DEFIB COMM ERROR,” which may fail to resuscitate the patient.
The majority of the Defib Comm errors are detected by a self test that is automatically performed when the PIC50 is turned on. If there is a Defib Comm error then the device needs to be serviced before it is used on patients to reduce the risk of a problem occurring during resuscitation.
MRL, Inc. notified customers included in the recall through certified mail. Customers with questions should contact MRL, Inc. at 1-800-462-0777 for further information.
