ReNu with MoistureLoc Recalled Worldwide
May 2006
Bausch & Lomb is permanently pulling their ReNu with MoistureLoc product from the shelves worldwide. This comes after conducting an internal investigation into the contact lens solution’s connection with the Fusarium keratitis eye infection.
Bausch & Lomb found that the formula of ReNu with MoistureLoc increased the risk of the Fusarium infection under certain circumstances. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is standing behind their decision to globally remove the contact lens cleaner, but will continue to handle their own investigation. The FDA is attempting to uncover new data that adds to the current Bausch & Lomb findings.
Information does not indicate a problem with ReNu MulitPlus or ReNu Multi-Purpose yet. ReNu with MoistureLoc was taken off the market in the U.S. on April 13 after a linkage to the Fusarium keratitis eye infection that can lead to blindness.
