More Toys Recalled for Lead Paint
August 2007
A special alert for parents – Mattel and Fisher-Price aren’t the only
manufacturers who have toys that have been recalled for their threat of
lead exposure. Nearly 370,000 items have been added to the growing list
of toys recalled for containing lead paint or other lead ingredients.
Two types of children’s jewelry sold at various discount outlets have been recalled for their lead content. Toby & Me bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and rings were sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and A.J. Wright from August 2006 to May 2007. Generic children’s charm bracelets featuring angels, crosses, hearts, and beads were sold at dollar stores nationally from March 2004 to August 2007.
Recalled Magnetic Toy Train Sets tainted with lead paint were sold through gift catalogs from December 2005 to July 2007. SpongeBob SquarePants address books and journals were sold nationwide from June 2006 to July 2007 until the paint on their spiral bindings was found to contain lead. And Thomas products have yet again been recalled, along with Curious George and circus characters, as lead paint was found in spinning tops and tin pails sold in specialty stores from July 2001 to July 2002.
