Graco Car Seat Recall
December 2008
Nearly 44,000 car
seats have been recalled because they pose a safety risk to
children. Pennsylvania-based Graco recalled the seats because a large
"body-pillow" pad hides the child airbag warning label.
The recalled safety seat is the Frazier-style ComfortSport convertible car seat, manufactured from November 1, 2006 through October 8, 2007. The obstruction, an oversized pad used for comfort purposes only, partially covers the warning label, which violates federal safety standards. A warning label that is not visible can result in improper car seat installation and injury to the child in the event of a car accident.
Owners of the car seats will be notified by Graco to remove the pillow pad so that the warning label is visible. The removal of the pad only decreases comfort level and will not affect the safety of the seat in the event of a crash.
