One Million Dunkin' Donuts Toys Recalled
October 2007
Attention parents – the free glow stick toy given away when you
purchased Dunkin’ Donuts could be a serious safety hazard for your
child. About one million free pink and orange glow sticks have been
recalled by Dunkin’ Donuts because your son or daughter could
potentially choke on or be strangled by the toy.
The small glow sticks come with a cap and lanyard attached to them. The choking hazard arises from the small size of the cap, which could become lodged in a child’s throat if swallowed. The lanyard – a thin cord to be worn around the neck – could pose a risk of strangulation if a child plays with the toy unsupervised.
As of the Dunkin’ Donuts recall announcement, no injuries have been reported. But following the recent lead paint scare and the toy magnet recall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission is taking no chances with dangerous toys. Glow sticks may be returned to Dunkin’ Donuts and exchanged for a free donut.
