Gerber Cereals Recalled for Choking Hazard
July 2007
Two more products have been added to the list of supposed healthy food
that actually threatens the safety of your child. The Gerber Products
Corporation has announced a recall of two different eight ounce cereal
boxes – Gerber ORGANIC Rice and Gerber ORGANIC Oatmeal.
The organic cereals contain clumps which do not dissolve in milk or water, and may pose a choking hazard. The products were labeled with the following UPC codes on the bottom right side of the box:
- Gerber ORGANIC Rice: 15000 12504
- Gerber ORGANIC Oatmeal: 15000 12502
This recall of organic child products is just another on the growing list of dangerous health foods that have been marketed for child consumption. In February, botulism was found in select jars of Earth’s Best organic baby food. More recently, popular children’s snacks Veggie Booty and Veggie Tings were recalled for Salmonella contamination.
