Fax Machines Recalled Due To Fire Hazard
July 2008
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall
of over 360,000 Hewlett-Packard 1010 and 1010xi Fax Machines, as they
may pose a fire hazard to consumers. Hewlett-Packard received three
reports of the defective
products overheating due to an internal electrical component failure
that can lead to burns or fires.
This recall involves models manufactured in China from November 2002 to September 2004. The fax machines were sold from November 2002 to December 2004 in electronic, computer and camera stores nationwide, as well as on the Internet.
The HP logo and model name and number are printed on the front of the faulty fax machines. Those who have an HP 1010 or 1010xi fax machine should immediately disconnect the machine from the electrical power source and contact HP to receive a rebate.
