Disney DVD Batteries Recalled, Cause Burns

April 2006

If your child is watching their favorite movie on their personal Disney DVD player, you may want to turn it off. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled 102,000 of personal DVD players after learning the battery packs included can overheat and combust, resulting in burns.

The Disney DVD players are 6.5-inches by 5.5-inches with a 3-inch screen. They come in five different styles, each with its own model number located on the back.

The recalled styles and model numbers include:

  • Princess Model # DP3500-PRN
  • Fairy Flowers Model # DP3500-FLR
  • Mickey Classic Model # DP3500-MC
  • Mickey Mouse Model # DP3500-MKY
  • Power Rangers Model # DP3500-POW

The DVD players sold at discount and electronic stores nationwide, at Disney theme parks and through the Disney catalogue from April 2005 through March 2006.

Consumers should stop using the supplied battery pack and contact Memcorp for a replacement rechargeable battery.
