Combi Recalls Faulty Child Car Seats
March 2008
More child safety seats have been recalled because they may not protect
children in auto accidents. Combi USA, Inc. has recalled 67,000 of its
car seats because they can separate from their seat base in the event of
a frontal crash.
The Centre, Centre ARB, and Shuttle Rear Facing Infant Restraints with model numbers 8065, 8074, 8086, 8087, 8520, 4400, 4515, and 4520 are all subject to the recall. The safety seats were manufactured from October 19, 2005 to December 15, 2007. The model number and date of manufacture can be found on a sticker located on the underside of the car seat.
Combi says that the seats are safe to use without their base and encourages consumers to do so. Owners are eligible to receive free retrofit kits from Combi.
