Car Chargers and Strollers Recalled

September 2008

Car chargers and strollers recalled The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of two potentially dangerous products. Approximately 210,000 International Merchandising Inc. car chargers used with spotlights pose a fire and burn risk to consumers, and 44,000 Phil & Teds strollers pose a laceration hazard when they are folded or unfolded.

The chargers affected by the recall, model number HSLR30S, were sold with the Power Systems Plus/UST 3 million candlepower spotlight. The car chargers were sold at Sears and K-Mart stores from October to June. The chargers are not compatible with the spotlight's battery, which can cause them to overcharge inside a vehicle, possibly starting a fire.

The recalled strollers are Phil & Teds e3 single buggies, e3 twin buggies, and sport v1 single buggies. Baby furniture and products stores sold the strollers from August 2003 to August 2008. The strollers' hinge locking mechanism can malfunction, potentially lacerating handlers when the product is folded or unfolded. There have been nine reports of injuries associated with the defective strollers.
