Bumbo Baby Seat Head Injury Warning

October 2007

Bumbo Seats get updated warning There’s yet another product on the market that could cause serious injury to your child and it’s already been linked to at least three skull fractures. One million Bumbo Baby Sitter Seats have received a new warning label to alert parents about a danger which has lead to 28 reports of child injury when the seats are placed on elevated surfaces.

The small foam seats were sold at retail outlets such as Babies “R” Us, Sears, Target, Wal-Mart, and more from August 2003 to the present. The Bumbo Seats are not being recalled – they are getting an updated warning label that clearly instructs parents and those responsible for children never to place the seats on any surface other than the floor.

Reports of children being injured in the Bumbo Baby Sitter Seats have revealed that the miniature foam chairs can easily tip over. The higher the height from which the child falls, the greater the risk of serious injury. In the current injury cases, including the three skull fractures, children flipped out of their Bumbo Seats after their chairs were placed on top of tables.
