Car Seats Protect Children Better Than Seatbelts
June 2006
Young children have better odds of surviving a car crash if they are in a car or booster seat, a recently published study claims.
Research conducted at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia found that children ages two to six were:
- 28% less likely to be killed in a car accident if they were sitting in the back seat in a car or booster seat in the back of the vehicle.
- 21% less likely to be killed even when the car and booster seats were incorrectly used.
So the next time you go for ride, make sure your child is in an age-appropriate car or booster seat in the back seat. It could be a matter of life or death.
