GM Recalls Buicks and Pontiacs Due to Fire Risk
March 2008
General Motors (GM) has announced a recall of 207,000 Buick Regal and
Pontiac Grand Prix sedans. If a driver brakes too hard, the cars can
develop oil leaks that can cause fires.
The 1997-2003 model Buick Regal GS and the 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix V-6 are affected by this recall. GM says that the cars are safe to drive but should not be parked in car ports or garages.
General Motors has received reports of 267 fires and six injuries as a result of this defect. Owners will be notified when parts are available to fix the problem.
