General Motors Recalls Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent SUVs

November 2007

General Motors recalls vehicles Drivers – check the make and model on your General Motors vehicles because they could be included in recent recalls by the automobile manufacturer. The company has initiated three different recalls that address car crash and injury risks in nearly 90,000 cars and trucks.

Two 2007 models – the Chevrolet Equinox and the Pontiac Torrent – have been recalled by General Motors because certain cars fail to comply with federal safety standards. Cars without the optional roof rail airbags or optional sunroofs do not meet the requirements for interior impact protection. Crash tests prove that these vehicles could lead to excessive head injury in an accident.

Three 2001 General Motors models have been identified in two different recalls for other crash-related risks. On Saturn L Series vehicles with 2.2 liter 4-cylinder engines, the crash risk is increased by a defect that could stall out the car. Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks with 8.1 liter V8 engines could suffer sensor failures that increase the risk of crash by causing the engine to quit running.
