Cooper Tire Company Issues Recall
March 2008
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has announced its second tire recall in the
past eight months. The company is recalling over 48,000 light truck
tires after an inspection system detected safety hazards when the tires
underwent high speed wheel tests.
Light trucks include vans, minivans, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks. When tested, the tires for these vehicles developed a separation between two components in the sidewall. Cooper tires affected by the recall include:
- Cooper Discoverer ATR (sizes LT235 / 85R16 and LT265 / 75R16)
- Dean Wildcat Radial (size LT265 / 75R16)
- Mastercraft Courser A/T 2 (sizes LT235 / 85R16 and LT265 / 75R16)
- Mentor All Terrain Radial SXT (size LT265 / 75R16)
The tires under recall were manufactured in Cooper's Albany, Georgia factory during a 10-week period from December 2007 through February 2008. Last July, Cooper recalled 91,000 tires that posed a safety risk to passengers.
