Ford Recalls 3.6 Million More Vehicles
August 2007
The Ford Motor Company continues to expand one of the largest vehicle
recalls ever as it adds 3.6 million more cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, and
motor homes to the growing list. The recall is due to a faulty cruise
control switch that can overheat and lead to fires.
The recall pertains to vehicles made from 1992 to 2004. Previous recalls for the same defect affected nearly 6 million cars. If brake fluid leaks onto the cruise-control-switch system, it could corrode and overheat, possibly leading to a vehicle fire.
The following models have been affected by the latest recall:

Ford stated that its Crown Victoria model did have incidents of fire related to the cruise control defect before this recall, but did not say how many fires had been reported.
