Ford Recalls Mustangs
March 2008
Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 435,000 of its Mustang
sports cars in the United States. The automobiles have been recalled
because their front passenger airbags may hurt smaller occupants when
inflated, the company announced.
The affected Mustangs were manufactured from 2005-2008. Testing showed that the airbags deployed at a force that could injure small, unbelted passengers. The recalled cars will have their airbag software updated at no cost to the customer, a Ford spokesperson reported.
The owners of the Mustangs that are involved in the recall will be notified by mail this month. Mustangs currently in production already have the most recent version of the airbag deployment software.
