Ford Recalls Diesel Pickup Trucks

March 2007

Ford diesel pickup truck recall The Ford Motor Co. has issued a recall for nearly 40,000 of its diesel F-Series Super Duty trucks. At least three cases have reported flames spitting out of the tailpipes of the 2008 model year pickups.

The flames are caused when leaking fuel or oil becomes trapped in a diesel particulate filter near the end of the tailpipe. One case reported the flames as the cause of a grassfire when the driver pulled off to the side of the road.

Dealers have been instructed to halt sales on remaining 2008 diesel F-Series Super Duty trucks in stock.
