Crash Risk Spurs ATV Recall
June 2006
All-Terrain Vehicles can be dangerous in the hands of novice drivers. But sometimes there are dangers even skilled ATV operators can’t prevent. American Suzuki Motor Corp. issued a recall for their 2006 model year Quad Racer ATVs because of a defective bracket. The cushion level mounting bracket on the ATV frame can break. If this happens, the rider could lose control of the ATV and crash, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
About 6,300 Suzuki ATVs are affected by the recall. To date, Suzuki has received 27 reports of the cushion level mounting bracket breaking, resulting in one reported head injury.
Only Suzuki 2006 model year LTR450K6 model Quad Racer ATVs with vehicle identification numbers ending with 00089 through 11626 are included in this recall. Check the lower left side of the ATV frame for the vehicle identification number. Additionally, these ATVs were sold in yellow or white.
Owners of these recalled Suzuki Quad Racer ATVs should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact a local Suzuki ATV dealer for a free repair. Consumers who want more information about the ATV recall can also contact Suzuki at 1-800-444-5077.
