Ohio Car Seat and Booster Seat Laws
Rear-Facing Car Seat
Law states no preference.
Car Seat
Children ages 3 and under or weighing less than 40 pounds must be properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat.
Booster Seat
Children 4 through 7 years who weigh 40 pounds or more and who are shorter than 57 inches must be in a booster seat (effective 10/07/09).
Seat Belt
- Children ages 8 through 14 must wear a safety belt in all seats in the car (effective 10/07/09).
- Children over the age of 15 must wear a seat belt in the front seat of the car.
Seating Position
Law states no preference.
