Bodily Injury Liability
Required minimum coverage under Pennsylvania law:
- $15,000 per person
- $30,000 per occurrence
Our law firm’s recommended minimum coverage:
- $100,000 per person
- $300,000 per occurrence
Bodily injury liability coverage pays money to the person who brings a claim against you if you injure or kill someone in an accident for which you are legally responsible. Bodily injury liability will cover anyone else responsible for an accident while driving your car as long as they were doing so with your permission.
We recommend that you carry more than the required minimum amount to protect your financial interests. Your insurance company will only pay claims up to the limit of your bodily injury liability coverage. If the amount of a verdict or settlement that you are ordered to pay is for more than the amount of your insurance coverage, you would be responsible for the difference. You may be forced to pay the excess, or some portion of it, out of your own pocket.
