Infant Gas Relief Drops May Contain Metal Fragments

Infant gas relief drops may contain metal parts. Johnson & Johnson • Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals Company (JJMCP) is recalling about 12,000 units of Infants’ MYLICON® GAS RELIEF DYE FREE drops. It has been found that the drops may pose a safety risk to babies.

The products affected by the recall are one-ounce plastic bottles that were distributed nationwide after October 5, 2008. JJMCP is instituting the recall of the potentially dangerous medication because some of the bottles could contain metal fragments that were produced during the manufacturing process. Concerned parents who have already given the drops to their child are advised to contact their health care provider immediately.

Infants’ MYLICON® drops are an over-the-counter medication sold to relieve the discomfort of infant gas. Lot numbers SMF007 and SMF008 are included in the recall. The lot numbers are printed on the bottom of the box containing the product and on the lower left side of the sticker on the bottle.
