Recalled Ground Beef Sold at Some Local Sam’s Club Stores

There has been a recall of ground beef that is potentially tainted with E. coli bacteria. Some of the ground beef packages were sold at local Sam’s Club stores.

The contaminated beef comes from National Beef Packaging Co. of Dodge City, Kansas. While the recalls were mainly targeted for the southeast, the meat was sent to several distributors, who may have repackaged them and sent them across the U.S. for consumers.

The Sam’s Club stores pulled the ground beef packages subject to the recall and have been contacting people who recently bought them. They also are blocking any possible sales of the recalled beef packages. WalMart stores have not been affected by the recall.

• Boxes containing six 10-pound chubs of National Beef 80/20 Fine Ground Chuck (product code 483).
• Boxes containing eight 5-pound chubs of National Beef 80/20 Fine Ground Chuck (product code 684).
• Boxes containing twelve 3-pound chubs of National Beef 80/20 Fine Ground Chuck (product code 782 or 785).
• Boxes containing six 10-pound chubs of National Beef 80/20 Fine Ground Chuck (product code 787).

Ground Beef Chubs Produced on July 25 (Freeze-by Date of August 14)

• Boxes containing eight 10-pound chubs of National Beef 81/19 Fine Ground Beef (product code 431).
• Boxes containing eight 10-pound chubs of National Beef 90/10 Fine Ground Beef (product code 471).
• Boxes containing six 10-pound chubs of National Beef 86/14 Fine Ground Round (product code 494).

Those who purchased any of these products can return it to their local Sam’s Club for a refund. Consumers can direct questions and concerns by calling the National Beef hotline at 1-877-800-6848.
