Bumbo Baby Seats Recalled After Dozens of Injuries

Four million Bumbo baby seats have been recalled after reports of dozens of injuries, including skull fractures, according to Bumbo International Trust and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

One million Bumbos were originally recalled in 2007 to provide more complete warnings about the risks of using them on raised surfaces. Since that recall, at least 50 incidents have been reported in which babies fell while a Bumbo seat was on an elevated surface. Nineteen of the injuries included skull fractures. Another 34 reports involved infants who fell while the chair was on the floor or on an unspecified surface – two of those injuries were skull fractures.

People have been urged to stop using the seat until they install a repair kit. Bumbos are sold at Babies R Us, Sears, Target Corp, Toys R Us, USA Babies, Wal-Mart and other stores and online sellers.
