Eight years after a 6-month-old baby died, over 200,000 strollers are being recalled because of new evidence of strangulation risks. The infant suffocated when his head became trapped between the seat and the tray of his stroller.
Peg Perego USA Inc. has issued a recall for roughly 223,000 strollers. The recall includes both Venezia and Pliko-P3 strollers that were manufactured in a variety of colors between January 2004 and September 2007, and were sold through September 2010 at various retailers nationwide.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, infants can become entrapped in the stroller if they are not harnessed. The child runs the risk of passing though the opening between the tray and the seat bottom, becoming trapped by the tray, and suffocating.

Venezia Stroller Model Numbers
Because used strollers are popular items at consignment stores, aftermarket websites, and yard sales, customers need to check the model number of the used stroller they bought to make sure it is not part of the recall. Do the same if you use a stroller that you found on Craig’s List, or if a friend or family member gave you one to use.
