It’s true that little hands seem to get everywhere, especially in places you don’t want them. That’s why parents take great pains to child-proof the house, keeping dangerous products locked up or out of reach. Unfortunately, Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling almost one million Push N’ Snap cabinet locks because they failed to work, and several children got a hold of dangerous substances.
Dorel Juvenile Group said that they have received 200 reports of failed locks, including damaged locks, which did not secure cabinets. These reports show that at least 140 children, between the ages of nine months and five years, were able to get past the locks. Three of these children swallowed or handled a dangerous substance and needed medical attention. The locks recalled were manufactured between January 2004 and November 2010, with model numbers 48391 and 48442.
Dorel is currently trying to contact all registered owners to help them obtain a free replacement lock. Further information, including how unregistered users can obtain replacement locks, can be found on their website.
