Honda Motor Co. has announced a recall of 304,000 vehicles due to defective air bag inflators. The recall was initiated over concerns that the vehicles’ air bags could burst during a crash, sending harmful metal and plastic particles flying and potentially causing injury or death.
This is the sixth recall by Honda since 2008 for the defective airbags, bringing the total number of cars recalled up to almost 2 million. So far there have been 20 accidents related to the airbags, including two deaths in 2009.
The list of cars affected by this recall include: 2001 and 2002 Accord, 2001 to 2003 Civic, 2001 to 2003 Odyssey, 2002 and 2003 CR-V, 2003 Pilot, 2002 and 2003 Acura 3.2 TL, and 2003 Acura 3.2 CL.
